St. Peter’s Cemetery islocated in the rear part of the abbey and it’s one of the most ancient and best preserved cemeteries in the world. The so-called “catacombs”, tombs hewn out in the rock, represent one of the main attractions.

Visiting this cemetery, you’ll find the grave of famous people, like:
Santino Solari (the favourite architect of Prince-Archbishops of his time. He built the Salzburg Cathedral and the Hellbrunn Castle)
Nannerl Mozart (Mozart’s sister)
Lorenz Hagenauer (the Mozart family's friend and landlord)
Michael Haydn (Joseph Haydn's younger brother)
Paul Hofhaimer (organist and composer)
Sigmund Haffner (benefactor and mayor, friend of the Mozart family. Mozart mentioned him in his works "Haffner Serenade" and "Haffner Symphony")
Richard Mayr (opera singer)
Harry Collins (last commander of the allied occupation forces, honorary citizen of the city)
